Getting started with writing

The Aspects of the Novel workshop series is a new project for the Northern Rivers Writers Centre with six workshops covering the progress of novel-writing from beginning to end.

The first workshop is called Getting Started and is on Saturday, February 3, and will be facilitated by author Leigh Redhead (pictured).

As Leigh says; If I can go from being the worlds biggest procrastinator to writing three books then you can too.

Leigh Redheads career as a writer has been short and spectacular. In 2003 Leigh accepted a Northern Rivers Writers Centre mentorship with Marele Day and this led to her first book Peepshow being published by Allen & Unwin.

She has since written a second novel and has been named one of The Sydney Morning Heralds Best Young Australian Novelists for 2004 and 2005. Her third book in the Simone Kirsch series will be released this year.

Getting Started will cost $70/55. Numbers are limited and bookings are essential. Phone the Centre on 6685 5115 or email susie@nrwc.org.au to make a booking or for more info on this and future workshops in the Aspects of the Novel series.
