Lismore to host Titan trial

Lismore has snatched up an opportunity to host one of the very first viewings of the Gold Coast Titans, with the brand new NRL franchise running onto Oakes Oval on Saturday, February 24, to play Parramatta in a pre-season trial match.

The Titans have been very busy in the transfer market over the last few years and have a host of big name and emerging players in their number.

Possibly the most well-known of the new brigade is the extremely elusive Preston Campbell. Campbell will be joining forces with former Tigers and New Zealand half Scott Prince. Up front former Dragons enforcer Luke Bailey will be joined by hard-running second rowers Mark Minichello and Anthony Laffranchi. And its even possible that former Wallaby Matt Rogers might get a run.

Meanwhile, Parramatta are making a habit of visiting after playing Cronulla in a pre-season hit out at Lismore in 2005. They play an open style of league based around a smaller and more mobile pack and should prove an excellent testing ground for the Titans, who need to gel quickly before the beginning of the NRL season proper. All the players will be jostling for a permanent spot, so expect a fast and furious encounter.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
