Shes guitar King

Kaki King is a guitar virtuoso from the USA. She bashes, strokes and bends her guitar, wringing it for every drop of emotion. (When I re-incarnate I hope its as Kakis guitar.) She playing in Bangalow early in the New Year.

Kaki Kings guitar style was honed by her busking in New York subways where the unique acoustics created her percussive and very distinctive sound.

When she was growing up her passions were the drumkit and Brit-pop. But it soon became evident that her musical career would centre on her exquisite guitar chops. And her voice. And her original songs.

The 25-year-old has released three albums, recently appeared on David Lettermans The Late Show and Conan OBrians Late Night, and toured constantly, selling out entire tours across the USA, France and Italy.

She plays all sorts of guitar from delicate acoustic to rip-snorting, fire-breathing electric rock.

Her first album Everybody Loves You has just been released in Australia.

Shell sing, slap and stroke at Woodford Folk Festival from December 27-January 1 and then at the Bangalow Catholic Hall on Wednesday, January 3. Tickets are $25/20 at the door. Strums start at 8.30pm.
