CWA raffle

CWA Alstonville brought a successful year to a close with their Christmas Party held at the House With No Steps. A busy year which included stalls in May & Sept at the Aville Plaza; stalls at the Heritage Fair, Quota Fair & Aville Show; and for the first time a Christmas raffle. The lucky winners were: 1st prize (a beautifully dressed doll made a CWA member) to Lorna Hutchinson; 2nd prize (clock radio) to Margaret Tulk; and 3rd prize (Xmas cake) to Olga Scanlon. This CWA Aville also presented a Xmas donation of $115 to the Alstonville Rural Service.

Meerschaum Vale book out now

As part of our centenary a calendar (2007) showcasing historic Meerschaum Vale has been produced. Wonderful photographs dating from 1920s to current, reproduced & presented in sepia tones. The calendar would make a great Christmas gift as well as an historic keepsake. Priced at $10 all proceeds to the halls maintenance. On Tues, Dec 19 from 7-8.30pm the Rainforest Information Centre will host a Climate Study/Action Telephone Conference featuring Philip Sutton, convenor of the Greenleap Strategic Institute. Tertiary prep

Info packages are now available for the Tertiary Preparation Certificate IV at Wollongbar TAFE in 2007. This HSC-equivalent course for mature-aged students can be completed in 2 semesters (20hrs per wk) or part-time over a longer period. Especially suits those who left school some time ago & only went to year 10, & also suitable for those whose UAI was not high enough for the uni course of their choice. Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation  Riots of Passage in The Quad  as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day.
