Gypsy mayhem

The Counterfeit Gypsies from Melbourne (pictured) are getting aboard the bus to Lismore (because theres no train service anymore) and will shake the Tatts Hotel in Lismore next Thursday, December 21.

This band is no faker and plays an energetic mix of eastern European Gypsy and Balkan music with hard-driving grooves. Dance music.

Apparently their live performance is quite a show. The Counterfeit Gypsies will be supported by local outfit Orchida.

Entry is $3 and the doors open at 8.30pm.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
