Eight pistols and over six kilograms of MDMA powder with the potential to produce more than 60,000 tablets of illegal drugs worth an estimated $2.5 million were seized during a raid by police on a property west of Casino last Thursday. During a three-day search of the property, detectives also found a pill press and other paraphernalia associated with the large-scale manufacture of MDMA, the ingredient in the illegal drug ecstasy. Police also found a large quantity of glassware, cooking apparatus, precursor chemicals and other items to produce illegal drugs, plus a small quantity of cannabis and cannabis resin. The property was unoccupied when police searched it and no arrests have yet been made. Police are investigating an incident in Ballina on Saturday in which a man threatened to seriously harm a 17-year-old female. The incident occurred around 3.30pm as the young woman was walking east on Fox Street about 40 metres from the corner of Cherry Street. The male approached her and tried to engage her in conversation before trying to grab her from behind. He continued to threaten her as she approached Bentinck Street. The man is described as Aboriginal, 30-35 years old, about 170-180cm tall, and of thin build with short dark brown hair and dark stubble on his face. He has two or three upper front teeth missing. At the time he was wearing an orange and red striped T-shirt with blue jeans. Anyone with information on this or similar incidents are asked to contact Ballina Police on 6681 8699.

Three Ballina children aged 10, 11 and 12 were arrested last weekend for the malicious damage of a section of Ballina Hospital, which is under construction. The older youth was charged while the two others were cautioned.

Lismore Police are investigating the suspected theft of a horse from a property on Yeager Road, Leycester, on Monday. The horse is described as a gold coloured palomino with white mane, tails and socks. Information to 6623 1599.
