Australia Day award nominations

Lismore mayor Merv King is calling for people to nominate someone special for the 2007 Australia Day awards.

Cr King said the awards are a great way to recognise the many people who selflessly work in the community for the benefit of others.

Volunteers and dedicated workers are the lifeblood of many of our community organisations and groups, Cr King said. Anyone who has shown dedication and commitment to a community cause is eligible.

Categories for the awards are: Citizen, Young Citizen, Community Services, Art/Cultural, Sportsperson (senior and junior), Reconciliation, Multicultural and Environment.

Nominations close on December 20.

For a nomination form drop into Councils offices, phone 6625 0500 or visit www.lismore.nsw.gov.au.
