Gifted presence

Armisteads Gallerys large family of artists have joined forces to present the annual Armisteads Christmas Show a massive collection of small and miniature artworks which are all for sale.

Beginning tomorrow (Friday, December 8) the pre-Christmas sale features artworks by gallery owner Rhonda Baker and many of the new and established artists on her books. These include Roland Schicht Sunshine, Angela Bettess, Bill Clifton, Brett Bienke, Sho Wakejima, Ildiko Hammond, Suzy Gourley, Su Garfinkle, Anne Slade and many more.

From sculpture and lino cuts to photography, oils and watercolours, the exhibition gives people the opportunity to buy original local art as a unique Christmas gift. Prices range from $50 to $350, which is as good as it gets according to Rhonda.

Supporting these local artists is supporting the heartbeat of our local art community. Making a living out of what you love is not always easy as an artist, so this is a win-win-situation for everyone. The public gets beautiful inexpensive gifts and the artists get to eat, she joked. My advice would be to buy now while you can afford us before we all get famous!

The Armisteads Christmas Show runs right up until December 23, and local artists who would like to contribute a small piece for sale are more than welcome. For more information phone Rhonda on 6622 8011 or pop into the gallery at 43b Wyrallah Road, East Lismore.
