Police are seeking help from the public in their investigation of a fatal single-vehicle car accident on the Pacific Highway at Knockrow last Sunday in which a 27-year-old Brisbane man died. Police believe the man was driving south along the highway when his Mitsubishi Pajero station wagon left the road and crashed down an embankment. The man, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene. Police, who were called to the scene at around 1.30pm, are yet to determine the exact time the crash occurred. A 23-year-old P-plate driver was caught driving at nearly 80kph over the speed limit in Ballina last Wednesday night. Police highway patrol detected the mans 1999 Honda allegedly travelling at 128kph in a 50kph zone in Kalinga Street, Ballina, after he overtook another vehicle. The man had his licence automatically suspended and will attend Ballina Court in December. Richmond Local Area Command superintendent Bruce Lyons said young drivers had to realise that having a drivers licence was a privilege, not a right.

A 22-year-old Lismore man has been arrested and charged with stealing and goods in custody after he tried to dispose of the goods at a recycling centre. The man is alleged to have stolen wire products from business premises in Three Chain Road, Lismore, last week.

A 20-year-old Lismore man has been disqualified from driving until 2010 and was charged with various traffic offences after his car crashed into a fence in Lismore last Wednesday night. The man, bailed to appear in Lismore Court next month, was charged with disqualified driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle and using number plates calculated to deceive.
