Heavy going halts local charge

Gold Coast District president Pat Cochrane (left) happily accepted the District Challenge trophy from Northern Rivers District president Fran Olley in Benowa recently.

Heavy greens played a part in the North Coasts marginal three point loss to the Gold Coast during the annual District Challenge in Queensland. Competing against 44 Gold Coast and Tweed bowlers the North Coast team of Mary Kinsella, Mary Clay, Shirley Baldwin and Noleen Hawkes did well on the weather affected greens, going down 41-38 in the final.

The District Challenge was the last for the North Coast representative bowlers for 2006.
