A-League rattles in 23 goals in one night

IT WAS a busy night in the A-League with 23 goals scored and wins for Wellington, Adelaide, Newcastle and the Central Coast Mariners.

The only other result of the night was a six-goal thriller between Perth Glory and Brisbane Roar, with the teams sharing the spoils in a 3-3 draw.

Six goals were also scored as Wellington beat Sydney FC 4-2; four went in at AAMI Park as Adelaide bagged an away win at Melbourne Heart; the Jets beat Gold Coast 3-2 and the Mariners heaped more misery on Melbourne, beating Victory 2-0.

Mariners' win sees them six points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

Goal difference separates the Roar and Heart in positions 2 and 3, although the Melbourne outfit have a game in hand. Wellington close out the top four.
