Nick Rose from Rochdale Accounting and Financial, Brazilian Futsal coach Vinny De Carvalho Leite and LWFC’s premier division coach Scott Collis with junior players looking forward to the 2012 season.
After a successful trial last year, Lismore Workers Football Club will be running free Futsal coaching as part of their junior development program.
The Futsal training will be run under the watchful eye of the respected Brazilian Futsal Coach Vinicius (Vinny) De Carvalho Leite, who has won a Brazilian National Futsal League title with Atletico Mineiro in 2001, as well as four state titles in his homeland.
"We wanted to improve what we offered players and parents and had a hugely positive response last year," club president Soren Hjorth said.
"Many football clubs have been a bit reluctant to embrace Futsal. We believe we may be the first club outside of metropolitan areas to incorporate Futsal into club training in this way."
Futsal involves teams of five, including a goal keeper, playing in an area of a similar size to a basketball court. Play is continuous, fast paced and fun with all players getting involved.
"The kids really enjoy the sessions and you can already see improvement," senior coach Scott Collis said. "When you look at many of the world's top footballers, Futsal was a big part of their development. We hope we can give our young players a taste of the game and along the way help develop their skills...Vinny is a gifted coach and without doubt the most experienced Futsal coach in northern New South Wales. We are very lucky to have him here."
The Lismore Workers Football Club Futsal program will run Wednesday and Thursday nights during the 2012 season. For more information and contact details visit www.lismoreworkersfc.org.au.
