Puppeteer Dale Woodward (pictured) will conduct two puppetry workshops at the Roxy Gallery in Kyogle on Saturday, August 20.

This internationally -renowned puppeteer has performed all over Australia and has toured the US and Canada lecturing and conducting masterclasses.

Now, thanks to the James Sigley Sponsorship for the Arts Scheme, Dale will bring a selection of his puppets to the Roxy Gallery for his exhibition Wooden Hearts (August 16 to September 17) as well as the two workshops.

The first workshop is called ‘The Sneezing Dragon’ which uses rod puppets created from everyday items such as mops and brooms. Dale will help participants put together their own puppets and show. The workshop starts at 1pm and is limited to 30 participants.

The second workshop is a masterclass where participants are guided in engaging the audience through vocal technique; the construction of simple stories with simple objects; and how to use music as sound effects. It starts at 4pm and is limited to 20 people.

Both workshops are free but bookings need to be made by emailing Roxy Gallery at roxygallery@kygogle.nsw.gov.au, phoning 6632 3518 or visiting the Roxy Gallery and leaving your name and phone number.
