Inviting people to join them for Hat Day are Rotary Club of Summerland Sunrise members (front l-r) Trevor Graham (president), Sharon Dowling and Gae Ferries with (back l-r) Graham Meineke, Youness Alizadeh and Bev Soul, and city centre manager Katie O’Rourke.
Hat Day is a simple concept that will help Australian Rotary Health fund more research into modern medicine that has and continues to save lives. All you have to do is wear your favourite hat and enjoy a delicious breakfast in the company of others. It’s that easy.
Australian Rotary Health has raised $24 million since it began in 1981 for research into arthritis, diabetes, kidney disease, spinal injury, mental illness and some types of cancer. Hat Day was recently launched as an annual fundraising initiative and the Rotary Club of Summerland Sunrise has happily decided to support this with their first Hat Day on Friday, May 20.
“It’s a chance to have a bit of fun while raising money for this important research – they are a terrific organisation,” Rotary Club of Summerland Sunrise member Gae Ferris said. “There’s a prize for the best hat as well as raffles during the morning and it’s also a chance to meet the members of our group and learn about the wonderful work Rotary does. The Rotary catchphrase is ‘ordinary people doing extraordinary things’ and we’re always looking for new members.”
Hat Day at the Tatts Hotel Lismore at 7.15am for 7.30am. It’s $20 for a full breakfast of your choice (including vegetarian options) and all you have to do is show up in your favourite hat. RSVP is required by Monday, May 16. Phone Gae Ferris on 6681 1612 or Bev Soul on 6622 7913.
