An email has been circulating claiming that new coal seam gas licences have been issued for the Tweed Valley, taking in the areas of Limpinwood, Crystal Creek, Wadeville, Doon Doon and Rowlands Creek. However, The Echo made inquiries to the NSW Department of Industry and Investment (I&I) last week and was told that this is not the case. The area in question is part of PELA (Petroleum Exploration Licence Application) 134 which was lodged by Macquarie Energy last December. But according to I&I’s spokesperson “no CSG licences have been granted”.
A map supplied by I&I shows part of the exploration area PEL 445 held by Arrow Energy (trading as BNG Pty Ltd) which has sunk 15 exploration wells at this stage, and PELA 134 (see above).
