BYRON Bay Bluesfest organisers have revealed the line-up for the sixth day of the 22nd annual festival.
The highly anticipated extra day was added to the event, previously running over five days, to accommodate a second show by international headliner Bob Dylan.
Joining Dylan is an all-star list of singer songwriters including Elvis Costello, Paul Kelly, Tim Finn and Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu.
Playing alongside the big names are Native American singer Buffy Sainte-Marie in her first Australian show, Tony Joe White, Eli ‘Paperboy’ Reed and The Mad Bastards, featuring Stephen Pigram, Alan Pigram and Alex Lloy.
The extra day of the festival, held at the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm north of Byron Bay, was approved by an special meeting of Byron Shire Councillors on January 6.
“We’re over the moon about adding Day 6 for the first time ever, bringing more incredible music to our festival fans and more business to the Byron economy,” said festival director Peter Noble.
“We fought the good fight for locals and visitors who want to see Bob Dylan in particular that day, and I have to say that most Byron Bay Councillors came on side in a fast and exemplary manner to get this over the line – so a heartfelt thank you guys.”
Tickets for the sixth day, which falls on the Anzac Day public holiday on April 26, must be purchased as stand-alone tickets online or by calling the Bluesfest office on 02 6685 8310.
