On a quest for Our Kids

What better way to raise money for charity than to pile into a 4WD, explore Australia’s fascinating outback and visit lots of pubs and historical sites along the way?

That’s exactly what Peter and Karen Arthur do each year with a group of enthusiastic locals during Trek Quest, an eight-day, 4000km journey that begins in Lismore on September 25.

So far 20 teams from Lismore, Casino, Kyogle and Ballina are packed and ready to go, but there is still space for five more 4WDs to join the adventure.

“Trek Quest is a lot of fun from start to finish,” Peter said. “We cook breakfast for everyone and in the evening we often stay at a pub or go out for dinners. We have pigs on the spit, a sheriff who fines people if they do something wrong and as we’re driving around we have to find the answers to 500 questions. It’s a heap of fun.

“It’s also a great chance to see the outback and visit places like the spot where Burke and Wills died and Eromanga, where we’ll go to the furthest pub from the sea.

“This is the first time we’ve held Trek Quest during the school holidays so kids can come along,” Peter added “It’s a wonderful family adventure for a great cause.”
