Bexhill Public School performing the Waka Waka at the Lismore Performing Arts Festival.
About 1000 children from 20 schools took part in the annual Lismore Performing Arts Festival at the Lismore Workers Club this week. Many schools have been working for months on elaborate costumes and dance routines, including Bexhill Public School, who learnt a Zumba routine to Shakira’s Waka Waka, the official theme for the FIFA World Cup. The Bexhill kids had to give up several lunchtimes to learn the routine. Performances were held on Tuesday and Wednesday night, with a matinee show on Wednesday afternoon.
One of the organisers, Jean Berry, who has been a volunteer for the show every year since 1975, said it was a fabulous opportunity for the kids and she praised the great team who were running things behind the scenes.
