Members of the Lismore CWA craft group have spent the last two months knitting their hearts out and have made 147 squares to donate to the Wrap With Love campaign.
This is the third year the Lismore CWA has joined the campaign and the squares will soon be sent to the Wrap With Love headquarters in Sydney, where they will be sewn into blankets and distributed across NSW to homeless and disadvantaged people.
Craft group member Etty Magarry said she’ll miss knitting the squares when they roll up their balls of wool and put away their knitting needles at the end of July. Other members echoed her sentiments.
“It’s the sort of thing you can do watching the telly and when we meet on Tuesdays for the craft group it’s a real bonding thing because we’re all working together for the same cause,” Lismore CWA secretary Audrey Mallaby said.
“It keeps our fingers moving and our minds alert,” added president Maureen Murray.
The Lismore CWA craft group is open to any person of any age and you don’t have to be a member. You can bring a craft, learn a craft, meet new friends and enjoy light refreshments. It is held every Tuesday from 9am in the CWA Rooms at Spinks Park.
