DJs announces new director

DEPARTMENT store David Jones Ltd has appointed Philippa Stone as a non-executive director, effective on Tuesday.

David Jones said Ms Stone would stand for election as director at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) on December 3, 2010.

Ms Stone is a corporate and commercial partner of a major law firm, specialising in corporate governance, general corporate advice, equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions, the company said.

She also is a member of the ASX's Listing Appeals Tribunal, the Law Council of Australia's Corporations Committee, and the International Air Services Commission.

David Jones chairman Bob Savage said Ms Stone's extensive experience in business and legal matters would be a strong complement to the existing board.
