Watching the storm

STORM SEASON: McKees Hill, a couple of weeks ago...

THIS photo was taken by Michael Davis of McKees Hill. "I think this photo typifies one element of life on the North Coast, especially summer," he said. "I have visited many places around Australia and the world, and this area is where I have seen some of the most spectacular and violent storms. It's part of life here."

Michael reckons GANGgajang summed it up pretty well in their classic song Sounds of Then (This is Australia).

"Out on the patio we'd sit, and the humidity we'd breathe. We'd watch the lightning crack over canefields. Laugh and think, this is Australia."

"Great song, great lines," Michael said.
