Wanted man ‘just wanted a few more weeks’

A CORAKI man who had two warrants out for his arrest and had been on the run since November told police 'I just wanted a couple more weeks' when he was arrested yesterday.

Police patrolling Lismore Shopping Square spotted the 21-year-old man who was wanted for a number of offences dating back to 2005.

When he was arrested the man said to officers 'Yeah I knew youse would get me'.

"I just wanted a couple more weeks," police said the man stated.

He was taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with break and enter in relation to an incident at Coraki Public School on October 25, 2005, three counts of attempting to steal a motor vehicle in East Lismore on November 2, 2007, and three counts of intentionally damaging property at East Lismore on November 2, 2007.

The man was also charged for assault occasioning actual bodily harm relating to an incident at Coraki on January 10 and contravening an apprehended violence order on January 10, also at Coraki.

He was refused bail to appear at Lismore Local Court today.
