Tweed students sing as one with 600,000 students
MORE than 600,000 young students from across Australia will embrace their vocal chords next Thursday for the Music Count Us In program.
Tweed Heads Primary School teacher Fiona Simpson said the school had participated in the past five programs.
It celebrates the value of music education by bringing together almost 2000 schools to sing the same song, at the same time on the same day.
"It's a great thing for the students to be part of," she said.
"It's all about promoting music."
More than 200 students from the school will show off their lyrical talents.
They have been practicing the song Different People for a whole month.
"They love singing," Ms Simpson.
"They're use to singing a lot. "
Grade four student Mika O'Brien said she loved to sing because it was fun and she got to hang out with her friends.
"I'm not stressed out," she said.
"It's cool, I look forward to it every year."
Since 2007 more than 2.5 million children have participated in the program.
