Scene Briefs

The very last of the long-running Sunset Sessions at the By The River Lounge Bar in Ballina this Sunday, January 20, will star none other than the ubiquitous Jim Kelly with his Thrillseekers. They'll have special guests to celebrate/mourn the end of this three year reign, including Laura Nobel and Karen Hanna. It's still only $5 entry and still starts at 3pm.

Dub pioneers Agency Dub Collective are on an extended tour in the Northern Rivers, playing two more shows: at the Byron Brewery this Friday, January 18, at 9pm and the Sphinx Rock Café on Sunday, January 20, at 2pm.

Triple J darlings Saskwatch are on an East Coast dance binge, having played every big festival going in 2012. They hit the Beach Hotel in Byron Bay on Sunday, January 20 at 4.30pm. It's gonna be hot and sweaty as they celebrate the release of their new CD Leave It All Behind.

After 43 years in the biz, jazz legends Galapagos Duck are back on the road on their Fresh and Crispy Duck tour. Having played and recorded with the likes of Nina Simone, Ray Charles, James Morrison and Don Burrows in their time, they do it all again at the Bangalow Bowlo on Wednesday, January 23. Tickets are $20. Book online at www.bangalowbowlo.com.au or on 6687 2741. Doors at 7pm.
