Splendid new MuRF
Splendour in the Grass is establishing its green credentials in the lengthy run-up to its 2013 festival, in its new address at Yelgun, north of Byron Bay, euphemistically known as the North Byron Parklands.
They've received a 'Highly Commended' Award from the independent European Greener Festival Awards, whose 'Outstanding' Awards have never left that misty continent.
Meanwhile, they've established a swag of green initiatives on their new site including; Murf (a Material Recovery Facility that sorts recyclable materials into bales), carbon-offset tickets (with a built-in renewables investment), Eco-cops and more shuttle buses to cut down on travel emissions.
