DO YOU think you have a knack for photographing nature?

Now is the time to test your skills against other photographers in a search to find the best bird photo in Fingal Head.

Fingal Head Community Association is hosting a Flight Photographic Competition with $1000 up for grabs.

Fingal Head Community Association is hosting the competition in an effort to increase awareness of bird species that visit Fingal Head each year.

"It's a celebration of bird life in the area," community association president Dawn Walker said.

"The competition is on at the start of the visit from migratory birds from Korea, China and as far away as Siberia."

Fingal Head Coastcare president Kay Bolton said more than 200 species could be found at Fingal Head.

"Fingal peninsular in the 60s was degraded and there was only about 62 species recorded," she said.

"I don't know if there will be any surprises (with new species found) we have it pretty well covered... but every now and then..."
