RDA welcomes Elvis
THE Ballina and District branch of Riding for the Disabled has desperately needed a new horse for a long time.
And now, thanks to the help of the Korea South East Asia Vietnam Veterans Association, the RDA has welcomed five-year-old Elvis to the Teven facility.
KSEAVVA president Norm Mulholland said the RDA was a worthy cause.
"A couple of years ago we promised $3000 towards a new horse," he said.
"It's taken a long time to find one that will be suitable.
"But now Elvis is here.
"Our association likes to support the kids around this area, and seeing the kids on the horses is just amazing."
RDA secretary and coach Peta Best said it was exciting to have Elvis join their team.
"We needed another horse pretty badly and now we have this one and he is very suitable for the work we do," she said.
"Elvis has a great temperament and he's only five years old, so we should get quite a few years from him.
"Everyone at RDA volunteers, so it is only thanks to the help of lovely people like this association that we can afford to keep going."
The money was raised through KSEAVVA raffles, barbecues and the golf day.
