KIMBERLY Hewatt yesterday said yes to Scott de Git's marriage proposal made in a Morning Bulletin street poll.

Scott and stay-at-home mum Kimberly do not have any plans for the wedding just yet, but the parents of Lachlan, 2, are saving for their first home.

Scott, a Blackwater mine operator, had originally planned to propose atop Australia's tallest residential building, the Q1 at Surfers Paradise, but instead he opted for an equally romantic proposal.

Scott said when Kimberly saw the paper she was fairly surprised and happy to take his hand in marriage.

Scott had earlier given the father-in-law-to-be a quick a call to do "the honourable thing", asking for his daughter's hand in marriage.

"He was pretty chuffed I called him first and asked; a bit of old school respect goes a long way," he said.

Scott said getting the ring the morning of his Bully proposal was a bit of a mission, "but you do what you got to do."
