Paul bares it all for laughs
WHEN former North Coast comedian Paul de Dassel's heart lights up, it gets him into all sorts of trouble.
The Melbourne-based comedian, who grew up near Yamba, felt the full weight of the law recently after he tried (unsuccessfully) to woo supermodel Megan Gale by attempting a bizarre striptease in front of her as she dined at an exclusive Sydney restaurant.
Despite being swiftly thrown out of the restaurant and arrested, the comedian is still unrepentant. "It probably wasn't the smartest move I've ever made - but I'm still alive to tell the tale," he said.
And tell the tale he does, in his stand-up comedy extravaganza, Heartbroken, coming to the Byron Bay Community Centre next Saturday, October 20.
"The show is about the two most important states of existence in life - either you are in love with someone or you are heartbroken," Paul said.
Described by Andrew Denton as "an incredible raw talent," Paul de Dassel turned to comedy less than 12 months ago to help him out of a dark place in his life.
The former language teacher has since won a batch of awards at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and performed with Ross Noble in the UK.
