No joy for Wallabies O'Connor

JAMES O'Connor appears to have lost the race against time to play for the Wallabies next month.

The Melbourne Rebels star had scans that showed he has not fully recovered from the lacerated liver he suffered in a collision with Berrick Barnes while catching a kick against the Waratahs in Sydney last month.

The fly-half is said to need another four more weeks before he could return to contact training, ruling him out of contention for the match against Scotland on June 3, and a three-Test series against Wales finishing on June 23.

"Disappointing result," the 21-year-old tweeted.

"Liver healing very nicely, just going to run out of time. If only I had a couple more weeks up my sleeve."
