New jobs for the region

ACTING Premier Andrew Stoner was in Lismore yesterday to announce stage two of the Northern Rivers Jobs Plan.

The plan was established to create new and sustainable jobs and encourage business growth in the Northern Rivers Region.

It will see seven new jobs created at Norco's ice-cream factory, five new positions at Red Dragon Organics, with 58.6 other jobs created across the region.

Mr Stoner said the region's economy had undergone a structural adjustment with job losses, including Telstra.

"It's about growing jobs in other sections...to help the community through a difficult time, Mr Stoner said.

JOBS PLAN

Must be located in the Northern Rivers region

Must demonstrate the viability of their business

Must have at least two years trading experience

Must demonstrate they will be creating at least two new full-time equivalent jobs.
