Music award is Deadly for duo
MUSIC duo Busby Marou have another trophy to add to their collection.
The Rockhampton boys were given a Deadly Awards 2012/Australasian Performing Right Association Limited (APRA) award at the Deadlys in Sydney on Tuesday night.
The award is inscribed National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music, Sport, Entertainment And Community Awards. APRA Song of the Year, Biding My Time.
A Deadly Awards spokeswoman said the award goes to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander songwriter whose work has been performed the most across Australia and who has earned the highest APRA earnings for an indigenous songwriter.
However, neither Tom Busby nor Jeremy Marou picked up the award in person, with Marou citing fatigue from a very busy schedule for missing the ceremony.
"We've been in the studio at Byron Bay recording our new album," Marou told The Morning Bulletin.
He said they also performed at the Intrust Super Cup Grand Final on Sunday at Suncorp Stadium.
Marou said they hope to release the new album early next year.
They will be touring North and Central Queensland next month.
"We are going to play the new songs and see how they feel," Marou said.
He said he found out about the award win through Twitter at home.
"There's no better place to celebrate than in Gracemere with family," Marou said.
