CSG-free zones to be declared

THE communities of Dorrougby, Whian Whian and Rosebank will declare themselves Gasfield Free this Sunday, at a ceremony to be held at Rocky Creek Dam.

All three regions border the dam, the maintenance of which is the responsibility of the Rous County Council.

They are the latest to join the Gasfield Free Community movement spreading virally across the Northern Rivers. Fourteen communities have declared themselves Gasfield Free, with many more underway, through the grass-roots process called CSG Free Communities.

Representatives from the communities will present their declarations to Rous Water chairman Phillip Silver.

Things get underway from 11am with a colourful procession along the dam wall music, followed by a launch ceremony.

A picnic, live music and kids activities will turn the launch into a celebration of community.

The event will be moved to Repentance Creek Hall in the event of bad weather.
