Citizens urged to nominate
With less than a week left to nominate for local council candidates, Minister for Local Government Don Page has urged concerned citizens to stand up and be counted.
"Becoming a councillor provides an exciting opportunity to make a difference," Mr Page said.
People interested in representing their local community on council must nominate by noon on August 8 for the September local government elections.
The Minister said he particularly extended his call to young people and women, noting that just over a quarter (27%) of councillors are women, even though they make up half of the population.
