Ita reveals secrets to ageing well
ONE of Australia's most iconic personalities had the audience eating out of the palm of her hand at C.ex Coffs today.
Ita Buttrose spoke about the impact of the caring role on health and social life and about the importance of ageing well at the Ageing Well Expo.
Presented by the Coffs Coast Community Expo Working Party, the Ageing Well Expo included information for older people and their carers on how they can enhance their quality of life, improve life expectancy and access services that will help them live more independently and able to remain in their own community.
There was also sessions on planning for the future, care and financial options, maintaining health and social inclusion, and supporting carers.
Speaking as president of Alzheimer's Australia, Ms Buttrose launched a new community awareness resource at the Expo.
The DVD resource entitled Worried About Your Memory?' includes three short scenarios outlining what people can do if they are worried about their own, or someone else's, memory.
The resource was funded by Alzheimer's Australia NSW and developed and produced in Coffs Harbour with local people volunteering to act in the three scenes.
The DVD will be distributed to local GP surgeries, Centrelink offices and pharmacies, as well as being available online.
