Italian restaurant Fire in the Belly has won the Best Pizza Restaurant - NSW Northern Region Award at the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards 2012.

The award, announced last Monday, has been won by the famed Lismore restaurant for eight years in a row.

Owner Tracy Krahenbring was delighted with the latest recognition of her team's hard work, as the award "takes in consideration not just the quality of our food but also the level of service and value for money".

As the area winner for the Northern Region, Fire in the Belly will be considered next October for the National award in the Best Pizza category, which they won before in 2006.

The Lismore Gateway Motel was also a finalist in the Hotel, Motel and Resort Category.

More than 173 restaurants and caterers whose businesses are located on the North Coast of New South Wales were recognised last Monday in Newcastle.

The Savour Australia Awards acknowledge and celebrate excellence in food and service standards.
