IN an effort to improve health services in regional and remote Australia the Federal Government has announced new grants programs targeting GP and dental services as part of its 2012-13 Budget.

More than $77 million over four years will go towards encouraging dentists to relocate to regional remote areas, with relocation grants between $15,000 and $120,000 and grants of $250,000 to aid in the purchase and fit-out of dental facilities.

Due to the success of the existing General Practise Rural Incentives Program, the Federal Government has also allocated $34.9 million during 2012-13 to meet the demand of GPs wanting to move or remain in rural and remote communities.
