Food for thought
This year is Australian Year of the Farmer and the North Coast National is celebrating.
"Farming is so important to our nation. We need to support our local farmers in every way we can," Show president John Gibson said.
No wonder the Show refused sponsorship from CSG miners Metgasco.
Kevin Trustum is a farmer and an event organiser at the Show. He's concerned about kids' understanding of where our food comes from. He aims to bridge that growing knowledge gap and inspire a generation of young farmers.
"The kids will get to have a go in the Food Farm where they can milk a fake cow, grind rice to make flour, pot a seedling, dig root vegetables or visit the animal nursery," Kevin said.
