Family bonds rebuilt
CLERMONT dad Scott Stephens and his daughter Karla couldn't hide their excitement when the pair reunited.
After having spent 15 years apart the two saw each other for the first time in Gladstone on Sunday, a day earlier than he expected.
Since reuniting, Miss Stephens has decided to relocate to Clermont to live with her dad permanently.
Miss Stephens said she had been full of excitement and anticipation about seeing her dad.
"When I got in the car to pick him up I took a deep breath," Miss Stephens said.
"Then when I got to the bus stop I jumped on him and hugged him.
"I was really excited and nervous at the same time."
She said they spent yesterday shopping and chilling out.
"I've never been shopping with a dad before," Miss Stephens said.
"It's been good.
"There's been no awkwardness either, we've got on great."
Luck was definitely on her side when she started the search for her dad, Miss Stephens said.
"I was so lucky to find him through Facebook," she said.
"After seeing him on Facebook I knew he was my dad.
Mr Stephens said he had enjoyed their first full day together.
"She wants to get a lip piercing," he said.
"I'm okay with that.
"Apart from that we don't have many plans apart from spending quality time together."
