Facebook finds love-struck runaways

TWO love-struck teenagers in Sydney have discovered just how difficult it can be to run away from home in the age of social media.

After leaving a note to say they were "getting away from everything" Lucas Bollard and Sophie McGregor, both aged 14, packed their bags and headed for the Blue Mountains on Saturday .

Within minutes of a missing persons bulletin being posted on the NSW Police Facebook page, hundreds of members from around the state had forwarded pictures of the young couple.

On Wednesday afternoon they were picked up by police after a Lithgow resident saw them in a phone box and recognised their faces from online photos.

The pair told officers they camped in Lithgow on Tuesday night and were unaware of the trouble they had caused.
Police thanked the media and public for their help.
