Expired Casino CSG licence
A CSG exploration licence for an area west of Lismore expired last weekend, but according to Metgasco, it will continue to operate in the area.
PEL 13, which was issued in 1995 has passed its expiry date, but it seems legislation in NSW permits the licence to remain valid until the date it is renewed or - cryptically - "otherwise".
"Metgasco's position is not unique in NSW, with no new licences or licences renewed under this government," Metgasco CEO Peter Henderson said.
"Metgasco looks forward to the refinement of the Government's regulatory environment and the prompt approval of petroleum licences in the state."
The recent Legislative Council inquiry into coal seam gas recommended the NSW Government implement "the community consultation process as outlined in the Draft Code of Practice... at the point of exploration licence application - and on renewal."
