DIY gravel roads plan
Residents tired of potholes in their gravel roads should be able to fix them under supervision from council, Cr David Yarnall proposed at last Tuesday's meeting of Lismore City Council.
"Residents are frustrated at the inadequate service Council provides," Cr Yarnall said.
"This is about empowering communities. We did it about 10 years ago on Terania Creek Road; Council dropped off the gravel and the residents filled the potholes."
Councillors debated issues that would arise, particularly insurance, and voted to hold discussions with insurers to examine the feasibility of allowing volunteer labour to help with the maintenance of Council's assets, particularly gravel roads.
