THE winners of the 2012 Coraki Art Prize were announced tonight at the official opening of the 14th annual event.

Marion Arent took out the Best in Show Award and $2200 prize money with her piece Life in the Balance: Rolling the Dice.

The Janelle Saffin Encouragement Award went to Matilda Giese while Alvina Kapeen took out the Koori Mail Encouragement Award.

First prize in the painting section was awarded to Melitta Perry, with second and third place awarded to Susan Jacobson and Dan McDonnell respectively.

First prize in the works on paper section went to Darren Bryant and Joanna Kambourian, with second place awarded to Louise Fulton and third to Susan Jacobson.

In the sculpture section, first prize was awarded to Paris Naday and Darmin Cameron, while second place went to Daniela Bradley.

Bonnie Sevil and Stephen Blanche took first place in the photography section, while second place went to Michael Moynihan.

Ella Spackman won first prize in the youth art (12 and under) section, with second prize going to Hanna Spackman.

Matilda Bird took first place in the youth art (13-18years) section, with second place going to Jessica Free.

Sasha Houtzager took out both first and second place in the youth photography section with two separate pieces.

In the Coraki and District: Its People and Places section, Dr Jurriaan Beek took first place, while Jai Tuck took out second place.

The popular choice award is to be judged over the weekend.
