Byron puts Kirtan on the tabla
DID somebody say Kirtan? It's the 'it' word in the Byron Shire, to judge by the volume of shows portraying this style of devotional music out of India.
Lucknow Sankirtan is a Kirtan band, based, you guessed it, in the Byron shire.
They lace English compositions with Sanskrit mantras using harmonium, tabla, guitars, didge and percussion.
They're performing along with a multi-media presentation at the Byron Community Centre this Friday, August 31.
The audience is invited to sing along in a group healing knees-up from 6.30pm.
