Funny in the Head for mental health

NEXT Thursday, November 15, a day-long conversation will take place at the Ballina RSL, aimed at destigmatising mental health issues. Specifically targetted towards suicide prevention, the event is entitled Funny In The Head.

It's the brainchild of Cynthia Morton, a bestselling author, blogger and lecturer. Since 1995 she has helped nearly 30 000 Australians - from industry leaders, indigenous communities, elite athletes and teens - improve their emotional health.

Her work has been recognized with an Australian of the Year Award, The Prime Ministers' Award of Excellence Award and The Pride of Australia Medal.

The day kicks off with a breakfast hosted by comedian Mandy Nolan, with Cynthia as guest speaker. A lunch time expo and forum follows. That night there's a comedy Gala from 8pm starring Wil Anderson, with MC Bev Killick, Sean Choolburra, Mark McConville and Fiona McGary, at $40 pp. Breakfast is from 7.30am and $35.
