An inspired evening with Gyan and Leunig

FANS of the wise and whimsical Leunig and the gorgeous and gifted Gyan won't want to miss their unique collaboration, Billy the Rabbit, at the Byron Bay Community Centre on Tuesday, October 23.

Described as "an inspired blend of music and poetry, art and philosophy", the show sees ARIA Award-winning singer/songwriter Gyan perform her take on Michael Leunig's poems, while Leunig, one of Australia's most beloved artists, draws and paints live on stage, adding his own insightful and witty commentary as the imagery is projected onto the big screen.

Gyan and Leunig will be joined on stage by a sensational nine-piece band featuring some of Australia's best jazz musicians including Simon Barker (Vince Jones Band), Lloyd Swanton (The Necks), Sam Keevers and Cleis Pearce, complemented by Gyan's hand-picked string and woodwind ensemble made up of some of the finest classical musicians around.

The live show of the CD and book, Billy the Rabbit, won a Sydney Theatre Award for performances at the Sydney Opera House and has enjoyed rave reviews.
